Pre-Game Report: Game 3 - Eagles at Chiefs

The Surrey Eagles have a chance to advance to the Coastal Conference Final on Monday evening as they visit the Chilliwack Chiefs in Game 3 of the best-of-five series between the two teams. The Birds are ahead 2-0 in the series and can complete a sweep of their division rivals with a win.

After shutting the Chiefs out in Game 1, the Eagles had to battle hard to edge Chilliwack 5-4 in Game 2 on Saturday. Trevor Cameron put in a phenomenal offensive effort, tallying a hat-trick en route to the win. Heading into Monday's game at Prospera Centre, the Birds are 2-0 on the road in the playoffs and took two of four meetings in Chilliwack in the regular season, including a 41 save shutout for Michael Santaguida back on December 29th. The Surrey power play was able to beat Mitch Gillam in Game 2, but the Eagles also gave up a shorthanded marker.

The Chiefs face a must win scenario for the second time in the playoffs. Chilliwack defeated Prince George in the deciding Game 5 in the first round. Despite the loss on Saturday, the Chiefs had a much improved effort and were inches away from tying the game in the third period when Luke Esposito hit the cross-bar from close range. Chilliwack's top guns have yet to find their stride in this series. The top line of Esposito, Austin Plevy and Josh Hansen has combined for only two points while Phil Zielonka, who scored seven goals in the opening round, hasn't scored in the series.
